Competition Structure
Changes to Competition Structure for the 2010 season
Canterbury District Soccer Football Association's Council of Clubs has voted in some changes to the way that football will be played at all clubs in the district this season, in anticipation of small-sided games being played by all ages up to under 12 from 2011 (as required by Football Federation Australia), as follows:
Under 6 and Under 7 - will play small-sided games - 4 a side on a 30m x 20m field. Most Saints games will be played intra-club at King George with occasional gala days against other clubs.
Under 8 and Under 9 - will play 7 a side (goalie + 6) on a 40m x 30m field in a round robin format (ie. playing against different clubs at different venues each week, with no publish of results) - same as U8 in 2009.
Under 10 and Under 11 - will play 9 a side (goalie + 8) on a 60m x 40m field. Under 10s and Under 11s will play in a competitive format (home and away games, with semis and finals) - same as U10s in 2009.
Under 12 and up - 11 a side on a full sized field in competitive home and away games, with semis and finals. PLEASE NOTE that U12s will play on a Sunday this season, together with U13 to U21 boys, and all-girls and women’s teams.
Junior competitive divisions will consist of 12 teams (where possible), with each team playing the other once (11 rounds), then the division will be split into A (top 6) and B (bottom 6) grades. The 6 teams in each grade will then play each other once (5 rounds) followed by a full semi-final series ... weather permitting! More games for all.
Women and Girls - CDSFA are hoping to also have enough teams to form an Over 30 Women’s competition, with some concessional rules. Leichhardt Saints are planning to form an Over30 Women’s team, and also a young All-Age Women’s team again. If any Mums out there would like to join in the fun, or if any of our past "girls" would like to re-join the Club, could you also This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
